Halloween Fun

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Room 9 had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween! We dressed up as our favorite book character, read Halloweiner by Dav Pilkey, learned a new song and poem to go with our "Witches Brew" snack that we put together, went and saw the Halloween play put on by the first graders, read Mousekins Golden House, had a student of the Month assembly, and watched "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" in the cafeteria with rest of second grade. Whew! What a day!
Congratulations to Eliza - our class nominee for "Positive Attitude"

Halloween Math

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

This week, we are doing math rotations in our room, Mrs. Watkins' room and Mrs. Coon's room to do Halloween type math activities. In our room, we sorted, tallied, and graphed M & M's.

Snazzy snack for October

Last Thursday, we made "Bread O'lanterns" as our snazzy snack. Thanks so much to the Whites for providing all of the ingredients!

Mallard Farms

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

For the second grade fall festival auction winners, we spent a fun afternoon at Mallard Farms. From our class, we had Towns, Rory, Vivi, and Mary Bibb. The kids rode scooters, met pigs and goats, rode the zip line, made s'mores, and pet the horses. We had a blast!

Constructing with Solids

Today we had a problem solving competition to see who could build the tallest tower using only these materials:
1. Plastic triangle
Our Class' Tower's measurements
2. Cloth
3. Straw

5. Rubber band
6. Plastic tube
7. Wire
8. Screw
9. Popsicle sticks
10. 2 cardboard squares
