We are 100 days smarter!

Today is our 100th day of school at Ben Davis. 2nd grade teachers and students alike dressed up as 100 year olds for the big day.

The kids did a great job at aging themselves as well!

Our homeroom mom sent in a baggie of cookies for each child. They make the number 100! Thanks Mrs. McClendon!

We worked on a writing project called "Us at 100." The kids had to write about what they'll be like when they are 100 years old. Then they created a picture of themselves at 100. They turned out so cute!

At the bottom of the bulletin board, we lined up our baggies of 100 items so other kids can see how much 100 really is.

I used the "Aging Booth" app on my iPhone to show the kids what they'll look like when they're old. Quite a group we have!

Math + Technology = Fun!

Mr. Kross has now updated half of our old 3rd generation iPod touches to 5th generation iPods. Thanks Ben Davis! Because of that, we are able to do more with our iPods including using one of our new apps, "QR Reader."
This past week we have been practicing multidigit addition with and without regrouping. To practice our different addition strategies, we played a game that involved QR codes and addition. The kids broke into groups of two and traveled around the room visiting 12 stations with different multidigit addition problems. After they solved the problem, they scanned the QR code to check their answer. They loved having the immediate feedback, plus getting to use a new app is always exciting! The kids were grumbling when I told them it was time to stop. Looks like we'll need to try more activities in the future like this...
