Helicopter Experience

Monday, February 13, 2017

On Friday, February 10, our class had a wonderful opportunity to watch a helicopter land and then tour the helicopter afterwards.
We all went outside at 8:45 and awaited the arrival of the helicopter from Haynes Ambulance in Wetumpka. We made predictions about what it would look like, sound like, and feel like when it hovered and landed. The kids each wrote up 3 questions they wanted to ask the pilots.
The helicopter came in at 9:10 and circled the building 2 times before landing in a big cloud of dust on our football field.
We waited a minute, then approached the helicopter. We walked around to the backside and lined up only to realize the helicopter is about as long as the length of our class!

The kids gathered around the pilots and got a chance to ask their questions. We spent more time afterwards sketching details of the helicopter - both the inside and the outside.

It was such a great learning experience for the children! They truly enjoyed our time with the helicopter.
