In February of 2018, my husband and I decided we were ready for a change - a BIG one!
We began looking for jobs overseas - especially looking at countries in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait).
After two and a half months of submitting dozens of applications and going through 10+ interviews, I was offered a wonderful position at the American School of Dubai!
I sadly said goodbye to Pike Road Elementary School and packed up my classroom and our home and put everything in 2 big storage units.

My classroom is all packed up! |
On August 11, we made our long 18 hour flight journey from Atlanta to Dubai (with a layover in London). We landed at midnight and were greeted in the airport by my new principal (how nice!) and he drove us to our new school-provided apartment.

We had a 2 week introduction to our new town and new school that allowed Ryan and I to slowly adjust to our new normal. Our days were filled with meetings and lots of shopping!

The new 18-19 ASD faculty members |
The school provided us with a "settling in" allowance in order to purchase our home furnishings and take care of things like getting internet and cell phones set up.

Along with getting familiar with things at school and home, I also set up my new classroom. We are provided with SO many resources at ASD and getting my room ready was a breeze! School started on August 29 and I was excitedly greeted by 18 happy first graders.
